We'd like to invite you to come try out Beech Hill Church.
Who are Beech Hill Church?
We’re a church that’s been in Otley since 1916. We’re a group of Christians united by our love for Jesus, and a passion to see Him known and loved all across our area of Yorkshire. With that in mind our church is built around three things: preaching Christ, teaching the Bible, and loving others.
What do you believe?
We believe Jesus is the best news ever! We believe that his death and resurrection were the most significant events in the whole of human history. We believe we were made for a relationship with God through faith in Jesus. We have broken that relationship by disobeying and disbelieving God, but Jesus came to restore it by his death on the cross. Christians are not better than other people, but are those who have trusted in Jesus for their forgiveness. All this is found in the Bible which is the basis for everything we believe.
When do you meet on a Sunday and what’s it like?
We meet on a Sunday at 10:30am and 5pm. Sunday Morning is a Sunday Morning Service with songs, prayers from the front, a children’s slot, and children’s groups during the talk/sermon. Sunday Evening is held around tables with a shorter mini service to begin with, followed by food, and then another item such as prayer, communion, or a time of sharing depending on which week it is.
In terms of style, we’re not a ‘dancing-in-the-aisles’ kind of church, but nor are we ‘don’t-move-or-show-any-kind-of-emotion’ kind of church either! We like to think we’re somewhat a happy medium!
Who are you linked with?
We are part of the wider church nationally through the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC), which is a group of around 650 churches all across the country (there are ones in Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, York, Ripon- they just all have different names).
Regionally we are part of the Yorkshire Gospel Partnership which is made up of churches of many different denominations such as the Church of England, Baptists, and Methodists, but sharing the same core beliefs and commitments as each other.
