What's on for Children on a Sunday Morning
Sunday morning is our whole church gathering. There are people there of all ages from toddlers to pensioners. We love having our whole church family together, so for the first half of the meeting adults, children and young people are in together.
Along with the songs, readings and prayer time, we also have a kids’ slot– usually in the form of a short talk for the children.
When it’s time for the adults to have their Bible teaching, the children go to their own groups:
The Groups for Children on a Sunday Morning
We have two groups for children and young people that take place during the Bible talk:
Miniature Heroes (0-5s)
Miniature Heroes is our Sunday morning group for 0-5s. There are songs, toys and fun Bible teaching tailored to this age group. There are always at least two adults with the children in the group, sometimes more if needed. Parents/carers are able then to stay in for the Bible talk in hall.
Heroes (6-11s)
Heroes is our Sunday morning group for 6-11s. This is a bit more grown up than Miniature Heroes, but still lots of fun! Every so often (especially during the summer) the Heroes stay in from the main Bible talk to help them get get used to church with everyone else.
What's on the Rest of Week?
- Tots and Toys, our stay and play groups for babies and toddlers, takes place on a Tuesday morning 9:30am-11am during school term times.
- Jelly Beans is also a new Postal Craft and Bible Story Club for 3-6 year olds Available to children in the Otley area; crafts, puzzles and stories are sent through the post six times a year -all free of charge.
- Sunday evenings we also often have children come to us with their families. When that happens we have an activity table at the back to help keep them occupied during the meeting.
- A number of years ago church had midweek groups for older children, and we hope to get something going again in the not too distant future.
Safeguarding
We take the safety of the children in our groups very seriously. All our helpers are DBS checked and we regularly review our safeguarding / child protection policy.
