What Happens on a Sunday Morning

Sunday morning is our whole church gathering. There are people there of all ages from toddlers to pensioners. Everyone is welcome no matter what their background or where they are in their faith. There’s no dress code, and we won’t single you out from the front or anything like that if you’re visiting.

The meeting starts at 10:30am (but people are usually around from a little bit earlier). We sing a mixture of old and new songs, there’s a kids’ slot, someone will pray from the front, and someone will read a passage of the Bible that we’ll look at together in the Bible talk. (You can listen to previous talks in the series in the talks section of the website.)

The Bible talk usually lasts about half an hour, and during this time the children go to their own groups (Heroes and Mini Heroes). On the first Sunday of the month we share bread and wine together at the end of the meeting. We normally have a last song and then finish around 11:45am at the latest. Most people stay around for refreshments and a chat to get to know one another a bit better.

Children and Young People

We have two groups for children and young people that take place during the Bible talk:

Miniature Heroes (0-5s)

Miniature Heroes is our Sunday morning group for 0-5s. There are songs, toys and age-appropriate Bible teaching while the adults have theirs.

During the week we also have Tots and Toys which is for the same age group, as well as our postal craft club, Jelly Beans.

Heroes (6-11s)

Heroes is our Sunday morning group for 6-11s. There are fun, games and age-appropriate Bible teaching while the adults have theirs. Over the summer they stay in the main meeting to give them experience of an adult sermon.

Older Children and Young People

High School age children stay in the main meeting.

During the week 11-16s have their own group, Pioneers, on Saturday nights during termtime.

More information on our Sunday morning children’s groups can be found on our Children & Youth page.

Location & Parking

We meet at our building on Beech Hill in Otley: 20-24 Westgate, LS21 3AS.

For parking there is Beech Hill car park opposite which is free to park in on Sundays (and often the easiest to find a space in). There is also Westgate car park (further up the hill on the left), and parking on the drive leading to Wharfeside Care Home (further up the hill on the right), though the parking at the care home itself is reserved for them.
