Psalm 89 begins with confidence, celebration, and strong declarations of God’s faithfulness — the psalmist lifts up God’s covenant love and mighty works with joy.
But after verse 37, the tone changes. The psalmist looks at the brokenness around him and cries out in confusion, asking why God’s promises seem distant in the midst of suffering.
